A very delicate collection femininity. Models fluttered down the runway in diaphanous gowns of organza, lace and filigree. The collection recalled the romanticism of "Marie Antoinette role-playing in her little farm on the grounds of Versailles" but of course many possessed a casual twist with long sleeves, high necklines and pockets. My favorite gown is one that incorporated all three of these details in a beautifully simple ivory.

I am so feeling the new Balmain under Olivier Rousteing. He's doing amazing work creating luxe garments while still maintaining the label's rock n' roll aesthetic. Olivier incorporated oversize pieces to this collection such as loose pajama pants in sumptuous quilted silk in a fabergé print and wide-leg trousers in everything from silk to plush velvet. There is a very regal feel about this collection. The sex factor is still present with skinny jeans and beautiful emerald green leather pants, jackets and shirts, all with gold button detailing.

Romanticism is always palpable in Valentino collections, this one being no exception. The eighties were a frame of reference for Maria Grazia Chiuri and Pier Paolo Piccioli but in more of the cool elegance of Bianca Jagger. Ladylike silhouettes and light and lacy frocks showed restrained glamour, in the best possible ways.

This is one of my favorite 2012 pre-fall collections to date. Riccardo Tisci is always experimenting with new shapes and these clothes are no exception. I was super excited to see that the uber cool Givenchy rottweiler made an appearance on a tee paired with insanely high leather gloves, a woven pencil skirt and amazing knee-high boots with heel-covering sheaths. The latter appeared throughout the collection in various colors and textures.

So in love with this "neo-noir comic book" inspired collection. I'm happy to see the influence is subtle (apart from the intarsia cashmere sweaters) and not interpreted in the literal sense. Beautifully-cut coats and blazers with zippers at the waist; the best version, above left, was colorblocked and is essentially, two jackets in one. Sheer, diaphanous chiffon was worn as a layering piece under vests and even atop a graphic black and white floral trouser. My favorite piece has to be the uber popular Pashli satchel reimagined in a clear, smoky plastic.

It was apparent that Karl drew his inspiration from the Indian subcontinent, with a hint of Bollywood flair. At the Paris-Bombay themed show, models sported bejeweled headpieces (not to mention nosepieces) and heavily kohl-lined eyes. Clothes adorned to the hilt with intricate beading, studding, sparkling bijoux and of course, pearls, were fit for a Maharani. Saris, Dhotis and Sherwanis were Chanel-ified with bouclé, tweed and sumptuous silks. Golden metallics were also everywhere. Although, some extravagant garments teetered on the cusp of costumey.
